The Rule About Seasons and Fragrances: There Are No Rules
Share
As a lawyer, rules often take center stage in my life. Balancing a full-time career, kids, dogs, and a growing business demands structure and organization. But when it comes to fragrances, whether it’s the perfume I wear or the candle I light, I love breaking the rules.
Traditionally, certain scents are associated with specific times of the year. Pine and spice dominate the holiday season, fresh florals bloom in spring, and citrus takes over summer. While these seasonal associations can be delightful, I believe fragrances should match your mood, not the calendar.
For instance, I enjoy the comforting scent of pine during the holidays, but nothing stops me from lighting a zesty citrus candle in the heart of winter if I want to imagine myself in a serene spa or basking in the warmth of summer. Similarly, wearing a cozy, woodsy perfume in the middle of July can evoke the peacefulness of a winter retreat.
Fragrances are deeply personal, and their magic lies in the emotions and memories they evoke. So forget the “rules,” and let your instincts guide you. Whether it’s a candle or perfume, choose the scent that resonates with your mood, no matter the season.
Go ahead, light that candle or spritz that fragrance that feels right today. After all, the best scents are the ones that make you feel alive, inspired, and true to yourself.
